Frequently Asked Questions Care Excellence Home Health Care Inc. | Edmonton, Alberta
ABOUT OUR SERVICES
Q: What is non-medical home care?
A: Non-medical home care includes personal care, companionship, homemaking, medication reminders, and transportation — all provided by a trained caregiver in your loved one's home. It does not include clinical services like wound care, injections, or medical procedures, which require a licensed nurse or physician.
Q: What services does Care Excellence provide?
A: We provide personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing), companion care, homemaking and light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and respite care for family caregivers. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Q: Can you provide care after a hospital discharge?
A: Yes. We specialize in helping clients transition home safely after a hospital stay. We can often arrange same-day or next-day care to support a smooth discharge — just call us as early as possible so we can prepare.
Q: Do you offer overnight or live-in care?
A: Yes. We offer flexible care schedules including overnight shifts and extended stays. We work around your loved one's routine — whether that is a few hours per week or around-the-clock support.
Q: Do you provide care on weekends and holidays?
A: Yes. Our caregivers are available seven days a week, including weekends and statutory holidays. Care does not take days off, and neither do we.

PRICING & FUNDING
Q: How much does home care cost?
A: Our rates depend on the type of care, number of hours, and schedule. We provide a clear, written quote before any care begins — no hidden fees. Contact us for a free assessment and personalized quote.
Q: Does Alberta Health Services (AHS) cover home care costs?
A: AHS provides publicly funded home care for eligible Albertans, but wait times and service hours may be limited. Many families supplement AHS care with private home care to fill the gaps. We can discuss how our services can work alongside any public funding you receive.
Q: Is there a minimum number of hours I need to book?
A: We typically require a minimum of 3 hours per visit. This ensures your caregiver has enough time to provide quality, unhurried care. Contact us and we will find a schedule that works for your situation.
Q: Do you offer a free consultation?
A: Yes. We offer a free, no-obligation home care assessment where we visit your loved one, learn about their needs, and explain exactly what we can do. There is no pressure and no commitment required.

OUR CAREGIVERS
Q: Are your caregivers background checked?
A: Yes. Every caregiver undergoes a thorough criminal background check, vulnerable sector check, and reference verification before they are placed with any client. Your loved one's safety is our first priority.
Q: Are your caregivers trained and certified?
A: Our caregivers are trained in personal care, safe client handling, emergency response, and dementia awareness. Many hold PSW (Personal Support Worker) certification or equivalent credentials.
Q: Will my loved one always have the same caregiver?
A: We work hard to provide caregiver continuity — the same person showing up consistently so your loved one builds comfort and trust. If a backup caregiver is ever needed, we introduce them in advance whenever possible.
Q: Do you have caregivers who speak languages other than English?
A: Yes. We have multilingual caregivers available. Please let us know your language preferences during the assessment and we will do our best to match you with a compatible caregiver.

GETTING STARTED
Q: How do I get started?
A: Call us or fill out the contact form on our website. We will schedule a free home assessment at a time convenient for you. After the assessment, we create a care plan and match you with a caregiver — often within 24 to 48 hours.
Q: How quickly can care begin?
A: In most cases, we can begin care within 24 to 48 hours of completing the assessment. For urgent situations, contact us directly and we will do everything we can to move quickly.
Q: What happens during the free home assessment?
A: One of our care coordinators visits your home, meets your loved one, and asks questions about their daily routine, health history, preferences, and care needs. This takes about 45 to 60 minutes and results in a personalized care plan at no cost to you.
Q: What areas of Edmonton do you serve?
A: We serve Edmonton and the surrounding area. Contact us to confirm coverage for your specific location — we are actively expanding our service area.

Q: What happens if my loved one has an emergency?
A: Our caregivers are trained to respond to emergencies calmly and appropriately — including calling 911 when needed, notifying family members immediately, and staying with the client until help arrives.
Q: Are your caregivers insured?
A: Yes. Care Excellence Home Health Care Inc. carries full liability insurance covering our caregivers while they are working in your home.
Q: Can I change or cancel care if my needs change?
A: Yes. We understand that care needs evolve. You can adjust your care schedule, request a different caregiver, or pause services with reasonable notice. We do not lock families into rigid contracts.
